The Studio

At Pele Prints, we work with artists from all disciplines (painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video, etc.)...no printing experience is necessary. Artists create a wide range of work using photo lithography, woodcut, relief, intaglio, and screen printing techniques. Since the studio is equipped with a 4’ by 8’ and a 5' by 10' etching press, many projects highlight large-format printing.

A small number of artists are invited to publish at Pele Prints each year. Print publishing costs are covered by the studio. Once the work is complete, the studio and the artist split the finished pieces. To be considered for print publishing, please send us examples of your work and your contact information.

Contract printing is always welcome at the studio as well. The cost is $320/day (8 hours). Artists interested in having a project printed at Pele Prints can contact us for details and an estimate. We look forward to hearing from you!

If you are an experienced printmaker looking for press time, you can also apply for studio rental. The cost is $20/hour or $700/week (40 hours). You bring your own paper, plates, ink, and any other special supplies, and we provide the rest. Press rental must be scheduled in advance. This is a new option we're offering, so please be patient as we grow into our new studio!

The Printer

Amanda Verbeck is the master printer and publisher at Pele Prints. She is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and has 11 years of experience as a printmaker. After working with several presses in the St. Louis area, Amanda started Pele Prints in 2006.
