"Biomorphic in nature, Gina Alvarez’s prints explore notions of seriality, color, and the relationship between forms. Sheets of paper (60 x 18 inches), comparable to the height and width of the artist, are paneled together in sets of six, two, or remain singular. They are composed of printed forms Alvarez refers to as “nodes”. Varying in three sizes, the phallic, vegetative, and tubular forms converge, protrude, and populate the fields of paper like growths or markers. The nodes, or family of forms, are printed in subtle hues of blue and green, and tones of earth and flesh. Layers slowly build, creating dense areas juxtaposed against fields of translucency, evoking a sense of quiet and contemplation."
